SPMS Athletic Boosters Newsletter 06.02.2024

Year in Review Part Two

Last week, we thanked everyone who helped us “boost” the SPMS athletic program, including Athletic Director Kasey Wells, booster families, team parents, business sponsors, community members, and fellow board members.  This week, we wanted to wrap up the school year with a few things.  First, we hope you enjoy the sports photos below, which were taken throughout the school year.  Second, we encourage returning families to join and donate to the SPMS Athletic Booster Club next year, as those funds are needed and support the athletic program.  Third, we wish those families departing SPMS all the best in their endeavors, sports and otherwise.

On a related note, this is Brian’s last year at SPMS, with both of his children attending high school next fall.  Megan will be the parent of an 8th grader next fall and will be taking on the role of President of the SPMS Athletic Booster Club for the 2024-2025 school year.  Both of us truly appreciate all the students, parents, guardians, coaches, and administrators who helped us in our roles this year, and we wish you the best over the summer.

SPHS Athletic Events at SPMS

Last Thursday, in the midst of winding down the school year and preparing for promotion and graduation, SPMS eighth graders welcomed a team of SPHS athletes who answered questions and provided encouragement for the middle schoolers’ years ahead.

Twelve SPHS athletes, who are headed to college to play sports, visited the middle school and participated in the school’s first “Ask An Athlete” panel discussion. Eighth graders submitted their questions ahead of time, and the high school athletes took turns answering questions on subjects like time management, academics, nutrition, and social life. SPHS Athletic Director and Coach CB Richards emceed the event, which included some SPHS Tiger merchandise and In-N-Out Burger gift cards for the lively eighth graders. Thank you SPHS!

8th Grade Athletes Promoting to SPHS Athletics
If you will have an 8th grade student who is attending SPHS next year and is interested in playing on a sports team, please note that the SPHS athletic program has posted tryout and summer practice information on its website.  Unlike SPMS, where sports begin a couple weeks after school begins, SPHS has try-outs and some practices over the summer that begin as early as June 20.  As such, you should visit these web pages ASAP:
