Volunteers AND Donations Needed for All City Track Meet!

We are mere WEEKS AWAY from the All City Track Meet! This is not only a super-fun,  exciting, competitive event. . . it is also a major annual fundraiser for the SPMS Athletic Boosters!

Did you know that the SPMS Athletic Boosters Club is the PRIMARY source of funding for EVERYTHING related to sports at SPMS, from uniforms, to coaches, to referees, to team pizza parties, to intramurals coaches, to transportation, to equipment…  EVERYTHING!

When the All City Track Meet is a success we ALL WIN. We still need volunteers and donations!

New Intramural: Ultimate Frisbee

All grades and abilities are welcome to stay after school on Mondays and Wednesdays for Intramural Sports.  Following spring break, we are bringing back Ultimate Frisbee!  Just remember to fill out the proper forms in advance if this is your first time joining us.

Interested in Joining the Athletic Boosters Board?

Calling all parents and caregivers who care about SCHOOL SPORTS! We need YOU to keep Athletic Boosters ALIVE. We are seeking willing and helpful folks to to join the board for next school year. Sports bring JOY! Sports help developing minds! Sports keep us HEALTHY! Help the Boosters provide athletic opportunities for all our sportyTiger Cubs. The following positions are available:

  • Secretary:  Record and distribute meeting minutes
  • Membership:  Keep track of boosters memberships and reach out to families utilizing the sports programs to encourage them to join.
  • Intramurals Coordinator: Create and maintain the intramurals permission form (a google form).  Create a flyer to introduce each new intramurals activity throughout the year.
  • Director of Fundraising:  Assist with fundraising activities such as ice cream sales, dine out scheduling, spirit wear sales, corporate matching gifts, and Poker Night. There are three people on the fundraising team, so responsibilities are divided.
  • Communications Chair:  Create and send out the weekly newsletter and other emails.  MailChimp and WordPress are used, and training is provided.  Content and input for the newsletter is provided by the President and other board members.
  • Teams Coordinator:  Work with the athletic director to create competitive teams rosters and send out initial communications, expectations, and schedules to parents of kids on each team.  A team parents will be assigned to take over communication throughout the season.

Poker Night Tentatively Rescheduled for 5/4
Please note that we have tentatively rescheduled the 9th Annual Main Event Poker Tournament to Saturday night, May 4th.  Once again, we apologize for the late notice of having to postpone the event, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.    We know that the new date may conflict with some families’ plans, and the DUDES will offer refunds to any attendees who cannot make the new date – please email [email protected].   We will provide more information about the event following spring break.

Once enrolled it’s simple to purchase the gift card through the app and use it to buy everyday items from groceries, hardware, clothes, coffee, etc. Participants can use the app to search for participating retailers. I’m going to encourage all on the board to try it out. I’ve sent it to a few folks, but I’m the first to buy a card and start purchasing.

Happy Spring Break 
The Athletic Boosters Board wishes everyone a happy Spring Break! Students, make sure you get some good exercise in every day. Get in a good warm up before doing a routine of 20-30 minutes of crunches, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, wall sits, squats, and rear kicks. And don’t forget to cool down!
