Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year, Tiger Cubs!
We are so thrilled that our students are back on campus this year, and we can’t wait to resume competitive sports at the middle school!
First, we wanted to share that Andrew Adanto let us know he is unable to serve as Athletic Director this year. Thank you again, Andrew, for all of your tireless efforts for our student athletes for so many years! Principal Busick is working on designating an Athletic Director as this is a district-chosen position, but know that planning for fall sports is well underway!
As a reminder, SPMS participates against other public middle schools in the 210 League. Our competitive fall sports are: cross country (open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students) and flag football and girls volleyball (which both field 7th and 8th grade competitive teams).
You will be hearing more about sports tryouts soon. Please know that if your child makes a competitive team, he or she will need a physical and a physician-signed Medical Examination Form
For those that are new to competitive sports at the middle school, please understand that there are far fewer slots on these teams than there is student athlete interest. That is one of the reasons why we hope to expand our intramural program this year — and make after school intramural sports more broadly available to more students.
Last year obviously was a challenging year, and because middle school competitive sports were cancelled, we were able to run a new training program for all grades thanks to awesome coaches (many of whom coach competitive sports) and the financial support we received through memberships, sponsorships and merchandise sales.
We are excited about trying to offer both competitive sports and a general intramural program, but we need your support to make it possible.
